AVIATAR – Pioneer built on a strong community

Intro:

Intro: In 2017 we combined MRO and Digitalization for the first time to create valuable solutions on one platform - the AVIATAR. Since then, digitalization has become increasingly important to our industry. In this episode, Frank Martens, Senior Director Sales Aviatar and Digital Products at Lufthansa Technik, shares his digital journey with us and shows why it is so important to involve the customer community in further developments.

Intro: Jingle

Intro: As we presented AVIATAR in 2017, it was the initial product of our newly created division “Digital Fleet Solutions”. For the first time in our industry, AVIATAR combined fleet management solutions, data science and engineering expertise into digital services and products for airlines, MRO companies, OEMs and lessors that could also integrate with physical fulfilment in TechOps and beyond. Since then, prediction is a game changer in the MRO industry and predictive maintenance is set to have clear advantages as the industry adopts broader digitalization.

Intro: AVIATAR ingests data from multiple data sources in-flight and on the ground. Based on our principles of Control, Choice and Competition, we ensure that the airline, as data owner, stays in full control and decides what data is shared or processed confidentially. It is also important to understand that it is not the amount of data, it is the right amount of the right data that makes the difference and turns data into valuable action for airlines.

Intro: Airlines are faced with the challenge to optimize their fleet operations in regard to reducing their maintenance and operation costs. Digital solutions offer great possibilities but I understand that it seems difficult to choose the right tool and make sure to keep control of the data at the same time.

That’s why we created AVIATAR:

That’s why we created AVIATAR: It is customizable – Customers choose from an individual portfolio of solutions

That’s why we created AVIATAR: It is secure and reliable – Airline decides which data will be used by AVIATAR

That’s why we created AVIATAR: It also AVIATAR is…

That’s why we created AVIATAR: Multifunctional

That’s why we created AVIATAR: Browser-based and available on tablet or computer

That’s why we created AVIATAR: User-friendly

That’s why we created AVIATAR: AVIATAR is Simple and has a self-explaining interface

And it is collaborative: Airlines can participate in the development process

And it is collaborative: We clearly see the importance of joint development of prediction with airlines and partners in order to offer best-in-class analytics.

And it is collaborative: Since its start, we have been on a very interesting journey with our customers and I must say that I’m proud to see that AVIATAR sees strong growth in all regions worldwide.

And it is collaborative: Our AVIATAR community is an important part of our success story. Through the feedback from our customers, we optimize the user-centric design of AVIATAR. Only in the last year, we already received more than 800 feedbacks from more than 600 AVIATAR users! 40% of them were feature requests. Therefore, we are very thankful that our customer community is active and helps us to shape the product in the most valuable way. We collect all feedback for each quarter and discuss it during our community webcasts. Together, we prioritize selected feature requests and change requests within our community webcasts. During one of our community webcasts, for example, together we prioritized the next features of Condition Monitoring, which is one of our core solutions.

And it is collaborative: As much as I enjoy our personal meetings – I’m confident that our digital meet ups during the pandemic brought also so much value to all participants. To share experiences with each other from the people who use it every day, discuss product updates and also focus on feedback as well as prioritize next developments together – this creates value for all AVIATAR users.

And it is collaborative: After working for years in different areas of aviation, it was an exciting challenge to become part of the digital journey of Lufthansa Technik. Something that was absolutely new to our industry and also holds so much benefit for the user. Since then, our AVIATAR team continuously developed new solutions or improved existing ones focusing on our customer’s needs – from the first vision and “prototype” to an established market leader in digital solutions and fulfilment. What a journey!
